The inspiration stone for the two,000sqm Bahrain Pavilion on the Expo 2020 Dubai website has been laid. It should function beneath the umbrella of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and can study the connection between density, alternative, sustainability and mobility as elements of a thriving society.
The Bahrain Authority for Tradition and Antiquities (BACA) president and commissioner-general of the Bahrain Pavilion, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa attended the ceremony, together with Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau government director Najib Mohammed Al Ali and Bahrain ambassador to the UAE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla bin Ali Al-Khalifa, as per a report by the Bahrain Information Company (BNA).
The pavilion was designed by Christian Kerres as a pathway to discover the interrelationships between creativity, density, and alternative. It was designed to be a 24m semi-cubic constructing with a central and open viewing space (30m in size and width), supported by 126 columns which can be 11cm thick.
BACA can also be working with Wanders Werner Falasi Consulting Architects from the UAE to implement the Bahrain Pavilion at 2020 Dubai Expo.
